Tragedy in Ted Failon's family

Mean Arteche, sister of Trinidad Arteche-Etong, wife of broadcaster Ted Failon, breaks down at the news of her sister's death and appeals to Superintendent Franklin Mabanag to let them go. Arteche vowed never to forgive the policemen who forcibly took her and her siblings away from their sister during her last moments.

It's all over the news about the tragedy in Ted Failon's family. Ted Failon is the news anchor of ABS-CBN network. Yesterday (4-17-09), as I passed by a news stand all the newspaper whether broad sheets or tabloid, the front page is all about Ted Failon's wife found shot in the bathroom. Her wife was still brought to the hospital because she was still breathing when she's found. And last night(4-18-09) she passed away.

The said incident is under investigation by the police to determine if it is a suicide case or there is a foul play. I'm not a police to pretend knowledgeable, but of course it is S.O.P. of the police to conduct aninvestigation then look at every angle of foul play. It is understood, in each case everybody is a suspect or everybody can be a suspect.

I saw on National televesion how the police with their power and jurisdiction arrested the household helper and how the policemen with their power and jurisdiction treated the family. They just arrested the household helper without consideration of reading the Miranda Rights to them. And the treatment to the family is sort of harrassment, I think that's what you call foul. For Christ's sake the family is in their deepest emotional struggle, his wife was found drenched in blood with shot in the head, her mother laying in bed fighting for her life, her sister committed suicide. Yet, the police should at least considerably and sensibly invited or arrested the family members if they are suspects, if that's the case. Isn't it even the criminals have rights too.

I symphatize with the family of Ted Failon especially with the children. For some people they made it like a spectacle out of the family's misery their going through. How dreadful to imagine, inside the I.C.U. where the patient is in critical condition. Supposedly, the patient needs privacy, consideration, peace and time to get well. How dreadful to imagine, inside the I.C.U. where the patient is in critical condition, the room is full of people - cameramen, mediamen and arresting police. How could the patient be at peace then.

Mr. Ted Failon my condolences...
